Drugs and Alcohol

Brick said he’d drink until he felt

That click.

“It's like a switch, clickin' off in my head.

Turns the hot light off and the cool one on, and all of a sudden there's peace.”

Recently I’ve been waiting for the click,

Waiting all week until I’m sat in a beer garden,

Three to four deep,

And it comes,

But there’s no peace.

All of a sudden the cool light turns on,

And I feel a Merlot melancholy,

A Shiraz sadness,

A Pinot noir pessimism,

And there’s nothing to do but drink more,

Then go home.

I don’t know why.

“Ooo oooo aaa aaa,”

Says the monkey.

Oh, you’re still here,

But I thought-?

Never mind, take your time,

Finish your tea,

It’s for the best, I’ve learnt.
